Chenpi, the first of the three treasures of Guangdong, has the effects of regulating qi, strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm, and is one of the top ten authentic Cantonese medicines, as well as one of the six major Chen medicines in traditional Chinese medicine. Chenpi is divided into “Chenpi” and “Guang Chenpi”. Among the wide Chenpi, Xinhui Chenpi is the genuine one.
After more than two years of research, a team from the State Key Laboratory of Conservation and Utilization of Biological Resources in Subtropical Agriculture and the Center for Medicinal Plants Research, School of Life Sciences, South China Agricultural University, published a research paper titled “Study on flavonoid and bioactivity features of the pericarp of Citri Reticulatae ‘Chachi’ during storage” on the Arabi-an Journal of Chemistry. The research paper entitled “Study on flavonoid and bioactivity features of the pericarp of Citri Reticulatae ‘Chachi’ during storage” reported that the team has made new progress in the study of flavonoid features and quality evaluation of Citri Reticulatae 'Chachi' and Xinhui Pericarp.

When using Guang Chen Pi with polymethoxyflavonoids as medicinal components, it is recommended to use Chen Pi that is more than 3 years old.
